In December of 1964, Coltrane recorded his iconic record, A Love Supreme. In July 1965 the John Coltrane Quartet were booked to appear at the 6th International Jazz Festival, Juan- Les-Pins, Antibes, France. It was to be their final visit to Europe. On their first night, Monday 26th July, they performed the complete A Love Supreme suite with the original lineup: John Coltrane (tenor sax), McCoy Tyner (piano), Jimmy Garrison (bass) and Elvin Jones (drums). French TV recorded the performance but only 12-minutes of the performance had survived. Fortunately, the Charly archivists retrieved and restored the entire live concert.
