Adeste fideles, also known in Dutch under the Dutch title Come all together, is a Catholic, Latin Christmas carol.
The title Adeste Fideles is Latin and literally means, Be there loyal ones. The first part adeste is the plural present imperative of the root word adsum; it is made up of ad (towards) and sum (I am). adeste, can be translated as: be there. The second part fideles is the nominative plural conjugation of the root word fidēlis, it can be translated as: believers, loyal, or trustworthy. The English translation O come all ye faithful suggests that a call to come together is being made. But the actual translation is less non-binding and much more compelling. The Dutch translation Komt alle vergesamen is a translation of the English translation.
