Thailand has proposed building a 102 kilometer long canal across itself. Nicknamed the Thai canal, the project would bypass the Malacca Strait, saving up to 12 hundred kilometers in travel distance. It would cost roughly 28 billion dollars and take ten years to complete. With the support of Thai officials and the Chinese government, the project may come to fruition in upcoming years.
