This student video presentation was produced as part of the College of Liberal and Fine Arts' 12th Spring Research Conference at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) scheduled for Thursday, March 22, 2012.
The video is a multimedia category submission created under the mentorship of Viviana Rojas, Ph.D., department of communications professor at the UTSA. The actual submission is a 7-minute abbreviated version.
The learning objectives include the following:
1. To understand the importance of international news as covered by national and foreign news outlets
2. To describe, compare and analyze news outlets' agenda setting function in the selection and treatment of international news
3. To understand the importance of representation in coverage of distant regions
4. To understand the impact and consequences of journalistic practices in the coverage of foreign events.
