Soprano Choir Practice: "Dona nobis pacem" from "Mass in B minor" by J.S. Bach . The B-minor Mass, BWV 232, was Bach's final word on sacred choral music, the culmination of music written by Bach over some forty years. The Mass would be Bach’s final large-scale project, completed in the fall of 1749. After this point, the composer’s advancing blindness made it impossible to continue work. Bach's handwriting bears a moving physical witness to a deteriorating condition as seen on the final page of the “dona nobis pacem,” after which Bach inscribed the phrase “Fine: D.S.G.” (i.e., “Dei Soli Gloria”) or “The End: To God Alone Belongs the Glory.”
