In the women’s 4x100 relay final, PNG was picked for a sure win with 100 and 200 meters golden girl Toea Wisil placed in the line up, but her running in the 2nd position raised some eyebrows before the race started.
Miriam Peni started strongly, before handing off to Wisil, who then passed the baton on to Adrine Monagi, who later gave it to Sharon Kwarula to run the last 100meters.
But the extra effort wasn’t enough, with Fijian anchor Younis Bese, edging out Kwarula to snatch gold, leaving PNG with silver.
