Transnet's former chief executive Brian Molefe, and former finance executive Anoj Singh, are among the four people who appeared in court following arrests made by the NPA's Investigating Directorate (ID) yesterday. The arrests are in connection with a R93-million corruption and fraud case linked to the procurement of over 1 000 locomotives in 2015. Meanwhile, civil society organization Open Secrets has released a report, 'Bad Cops, Bad Lawyers' on how the Hawks and the NPA's effectiveness in tackling the state capture cases. Investigating the networks of capture and corruption at four state entities, Open Secrets says it has identified about 30 names of individuals and companies against which the organization will be opening its own criminal cases.
