The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and The Norwegian Scientific Academy for Polar Research organise a two-day symposium on climate change in the Arctic. The symposium addresses issues raised in the IPCC report ”The Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate”, in particular environmental changes and effects relevant to Scandinavia. The symposium has a research perspective and focuses on five different themes:
- Access to infrastructure and data for Arctic research
- Forecasting the changing ice, ocean and weather conditions
- Conditions for livelihoods, health, and ecosystems
- Impacts of climate change – effects and actions
- Geopolitics (Governance), security and defense
