DJ HEARTS “The Peoples’ Dj“ BIOGRAPHY
Born Asea Herbert Jurua, Dj Hearts is an African Disco Jockey based in Uganda East Africa. The love for music started way back in my teens, I listened to a lot of African music mainly from Congo and South Africa. Being raised by a strict mother, I had to wait till my first year in University to put my passion into practice. I couldn’t sing but I could dance so I decided to take music production lessons, I did lots of research in Nairobi and Kampala but later decided to major in deejaying and took it as a profession.
My first gig was in 2009 at a then popular bar called Effendyz where I was a resident dj for one year and in 2010 I got my first major gig with telecom company MTN for world cup 2010 club/bar promotions. And then I got my dream job when the biggest night club in the region Club Silk/Silk Events hired me, I worked with Silk for 9years till 2018, during that period I performed in various night clubs across the country and the entire region including war torn Mogadishu playing for AMISOM peace keepers ,I also played at various schools parties, weddings and music concerts in Uganda, including organizing annual mixtape party rave tours themed “Dj Hearts Moment” around the country
In 2013 I hit the music studio and I recorded my first single titled ‘higher level’ featuring various artists, the song would go on to become the biggest or one of the biggest all-star songs ever produced by a dj in Uganda earning me the name “The Peoples Dj”. Dj Hearts is a Six-time Hipipo Music Awards nominee for Best Dj Of the Year (Uganda’s biggest music awards) winning the award once in 2014
Am working on my debut album titled ‘The Peoples Dj” under my new record label Black Market Records international. I hope to inspire more young ones out there and become a global house hold name, as the motto reads “NEVER GIVE UP” “GOD ABOVE ALL” “BELIEVE AND ACHIEVE”
