It's SNOWING up in the Big Bear Lake, CA area and it just. won't. STOP. We have had upwards of 120 inches of snow since February 22!! This is truly a huge series of storms!! The most I've seen it snow up here in one week EVER (I've lived in BB full-time since 2001). Right now all 3 routes..Hwy 330/18, 38 and 18 to Lucerne Valley are CLOSED and mostly have been for over 4 days. There are limited supplies and most gas stations are completely out of gas. We are like an island during this storm! No way off right now...Hopefully though this storm will stop later today (March 1st) but for now the locals are being told to shelter in place due to how severe this storm is. BOTH ski resorts are currently closed. Schools are closed. Emergency situation has been declared to seek Fed funding. This is unlike any storm I've ever witnessed up here....the biggest one before this was during the winter of 2010-11 and that was about 5 feet. We are now closing in on 120 inches of snow and will surely go higher since it is still dumping snow. On a positive note, this snowpack will melt and is bound to really really help our lake level, which has been down for many years. Ok, gotta get back to shoveling for another few hours/days!!
