Asian-Inspired Sweet and Sour Pork recipe

How do you make sweet and sour pork at home from scratch? In this video I show you my easy sweet and sour pork recipe with pineapple made on the stovetop. Asian-Inspired Sweet and Sour Pork is also known as 'gu lou yook'. This dish is probably one of the best-known Chinese dishes and one of the most popular items ordered at Chinese restaurants not only in the United States but around the world.

What is Chinese sweet and sour sauce made of?

Prep the Sauce for the pork.

Add 1/4 Cup Water
2 Tbsp. Rice Vinegar
2 Tbsp. Ketchup
2 Tbsp. Light Brown Sugar
1/2 Tsp. Salt
1Tbsp. Corn Starch
Add all ingredients into a bowl, mix well and set aside.

In a skillet over medium heat, add the sauce and bring to slow boil until it slightly thickens usually 1-2 minutes.
Turn off the heat and add the crispy pork and vegetables to the skillet. Stir to coat.

Tip: If the sauce is too thin continue to cook on low until the thickness desired is reached.

Tip #2: If the sauce gets too thick add in some water to loosen it
