The podcast discusses some questions regarding the value chain of the digital business and the role of intangibles in the value chain of digital businesses. The moot question for discussion is ‘intangibles overvalued’.
Also, Jan (guest) published a paper with Mariam and Lukas where they mentioned that intangibles are overvalued in digital economies, and one should also take into account the role of other factors, for ex., human labour/ resources/ data. They undertook empirical research about which Jan will be sharing a bit today. They have looked beyond the enterprise value chain (as it appears today) and tried to go into the sources creating the value and, thereby, economic reallocation of profits beyond the enterprise. i.e., the value chain of the “digital” economy, including a more comprehensive analysis of the value chain, with a bottom-up approach and less of a top-down approach. The podcast also discusses questions about their findings in the paper.
