Forane ® 427A (R-427A) refrigerant was introduced in 2005 to meet growing demand in Europe for R-22 retrofit. R-427A has similar capacity, efficiency, and mass flow to R-22, making it an easy upgrade option for large, medium, and small air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Hundreds of thousands of systems have been converted to R-427A since 2005, and many originally use existing POE metals and oil in the system. One of the main advantages of using Forane ® 427A is mass flow. Unlike other modified refrigerants, the mass flow of R-427A is less than 8% of that of R-22. The expansion device rarely needs to be changed, keeping the capacity comparison very close to R-22.
