‘The Golden City’ of Rajasthan, where the essence of Heritage resides is Jaisalmer. The city lies on hogback of yellowish sandstone, and is crowned by the ancient Jaisalmer Fort. This fort propagates a royal palace and several ostentatious and baroque Jain temples. This Golden City lies in the heart of The Great India Thar Desert. An Annual festival organized at Jaisalmer within the aroma of ‘Rajasthani Maati’ that makes the surroundings alive is ‘Desert Festival’. With this festival comes the mesmerizing evening along with extravaganza dance performances. This Desert Festival is organised by the Department of Tourism around January-February, goes on for three days that makes you feel the rich culture and colours of Rajasthan. The limelights of this festival are puppeteers, acrobats, camel tattoo shows, camel races, camel polo, traditional processions, camel mounted bands, folk dances, etc.
