This was my work place for 12 years, I got to learn a different skill set, building movies and seeing them for free. I guess the end started with the introduction of Digital Tech, cutting out the need for a Projectionist. For 12 years the Iveagh, owned by local businessman Dominic Quinn, and managed by Giles Conlon, was where movie lovers enjoyed the latest block busters. The friendly family cinema boasted great promotions and was very well supported by the local community. The employees were very carefully picked and schooled on superior Customer Service. Alas with the granting of another license to the the Omniplex Cinema group at both the Outlet and a site in Craigavon, the decline of the Iveagh was inevitable. With the eventual sale of the Iveagh to the IMC cinema group the management team decided to call it a day as the direction the new owners wanted to go was counterproductive, in our opinion towards the local community. This video is dedicated to Dominic Quinn who’s vision was implemented by manager Giles Conlon. To the team of Projectionests, Liam McDermott, Clayton Stewart, Dave McKinstry, Jonny Nugent, Melanie Jordan, and Rory. Not forgetting the assistant managers, Tracy, Mags, and Lisa plus the staff who worked tirelessly to maintain the Heart and Soul of Banbrige’s original 4 screen cinema. Long Live The Iveagh Movie Studios….
