Erich Maria Remarque (1898 – 1970) was a German novelist, who created a new literary genre, of war veterans writing about conflicts. When the Nazis came to power in Germany, Remarque became a refugee at Switzerland and then at the United States.
Remarque was known for his sharp and accurate quotes and life lessons.
