Have you ever tried tempeh? In this video I'll show you how to make tempeh gyros. Actually, they're vegan gyros with tzatziki sauce!
The best part of this recipe is that it's tofu tzatziki sauce. No cashews or vegan mayo. We are still on a quest to eat a more oil-free diet and this recipe really helps. So this is also a video about oil free vegan tzatziki.
Tempeh is a type of fermented soy bean. The same thing tofu is made out of, but fermented. It has a great texture for lots of different ingredients and because it's fermented it can be easier to digest. You should definitely try it if you haven't already!

Here's how to make vegan gyro meat & vegan gyro marinade:
- One package plain flavoured tempeh.
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 1.5 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp onion flakes or everything bagel mix
- salt and pepper
- 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp ground thyme (or more of full pieces of dried thyme)
- 4 tbsp water
- 1 tsp white wine vinegar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
And here's how to make vegan tzatziki sauce:
- Silken tofu
- Garlic powder
- Fresh garlic
- Salt & pepper
- Mustard powder
- Dried dill
- Onion powder
- White wine vinegar
- Lemon juice
- Water
