Miss USA 2016, DeShauna Barber came through to theGrio to talk about her new partnership with Carnival Cruise to help military families.

Barber became the first active military service member to win the pageant back in June.

But not everyone was happy about her historic achievement.

Barber tells theGrio's Natasha Alford about the racist backlash she endured after taking home the crown, how she moved forward and her advice for little girls everywhere.
