Fourth Sunday in Advent
Isaiah 9:6
For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
We live in a world where war is far too common…both on the outside and inside.
Until we have peace with God, there will be no peace on earth.
“War within ourselves is always a prelude to war outside ourselves.
All wars start within our own hearts.”
The real problem is we can’t change our own hearts and give ourselves the peace we desperately need.
The Prince of Peace gives us peace, and this starts with Him bringing us into a loving relationship with God.
Isaiah 9:7
Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end.
Isaiah 53:5
But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.
Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
The war God could have justly waged against us, He instead waged against His Son.
Romans 5:9-10
Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through Him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!
Luke 2:14
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.”
Do you want God’s peace? Then let His FAVOR rest on you!
The same Prince of Peace who gives reconciliation and peace with God can bring restoration and peace to the broken relationships we experience with others.
When we live at peace with God, there can be peace on earth.
