Here we go on yet another run in a Caledonia Works engine. Except this time we won't be driving the LNWR A class, but rather the N7 class No. 69621. In real life 69621 is the only N7 that survived into preservation.
The route we're on today is the Littleton and Bathcombe Railway, which is a fictional route that I think is meant to be set in the west of England. It seems to be best suited for DMU's like the Class 150/2 or 153 or 158, rather than an 0-6-2 tank engine. According to my notes, the route is 24.9 miles long.
We start at Orehead - the northern terminus of the line - where we have to move the engine out of a siding and over to the platform, where our coaches are waiting.
After coupling up to the coaches, we'll take on passengers then head off down the line. Our run finishes at the southern end of the route; Bathcombe.
As for what I think of the route, it's not too bad. It has a good level of detail; it isn't too high but it's not Bath to Templecombe or Oxford to Paddington levels of dated and basic. The route is long enough to give engines like the N7 class a good run and it doesn't have any incredibly steep gradients. As such, maintaining boiler pressure on the N7 is fairly easy.
