Local Rabbits were a Canadian indie rock group active from roughly 1992 to 2001. Though they were from Montreal, they were closely associated with the Halifax music scene that spawned The InBreds (who were originally from Kingston, ON), Sloan, Super Friendz and Thrush Hermit (which featured Joel Plaskett); in fact, all three of their albums were released via Halifax-based record labels (Murderecords for the first two and Brobdingnagian for their last).
Like most of those other bands, their sound could be described as a mix of fuzzy guitar rock and Beatles-esque melodic pop.
The band was comprised of vocalists and guitarists Peter Elkas and Ben Gunning, bassist Ryan Myshrall and drummer Jay Tustin.
