Loneliness and social isolation can be as lethal as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. It's easy to feel lonely in New York City even among the 8.632 million people here, and that feeling hit me hard the last few years. So we set out on a mission: we did a lot of math and documented the vastness of New York in numbers to serve as a reminder that you are not as alone as you might feel, because a lot of others in your surrounding environment are experiencing the same things simultaneously. We took our best guess at figuring out how many street corners are in New York, how many babies are born each day, how many hospital beds there are, and the amount of minutes until someone's loved one in this city passes away. This video and the story this data tells is meant to be a reminder of all the reasons that you shouldn’t feel alone with whatever you're going through. In NYC or anywhere.
I’m not the only torn-up person and neither are you.
