On 6 June 2019 the International Union of Railways (UIC), together with railway industry stakeholders, road authorities, academics and international institutions will meet for the launch of the 11TH edition of International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD).
Every year, ILCAD partners select an overarching theme for the awareness campaign. This year, the message will focus on “professional drivers”.
Our accident-prevention message for 2019 is: “The most important stop of the day!”
At this occasion and with the kind contribution of CDV and the Czech Ministry of Transport, the Czech road safety authorities, UIC produced a series of 3 videos to aware truck drivers of the risks that they may encounter at level crossings and the severe consequences that errors or misbehavior may cause.
1. The first video is about a truck driver being trapped between barriers. The safety message is: Always respect road signs and signals before crossing. Always wait that the red lights stop flashing and barriers get up to cross.
2. The second video: Barriers may be broken by a road vehicle when trapped between barriers.
3. The third video: A truck driver must always wait that there is enough space on the crossing to enter the crossing, and always wait that there is enough space in front of him before crossing!
