One of the nine members of the US Supreme Court is retiring, giving US President Donald Trump the chance to bring in a new Justice.

Anthony Kennedy was appointed by Ronald Reagan 30 years ago.

He was often the key vote on controversial issues.

But appointing a successor could lead to a lengthy and bitter battle.
