During the recent Meetings Africa expo, SACIA awarded 25 industry professionals in the events sector a professional designation that recognises their skill, knowledge and competence. We asked Rudi van der Vyver, chair of SACIA’s Council for Event Professionals, about the difference between a designation and a professional designation.

SACIA’s designations are all registered with the South African Qualifications Authority, and the award process is aligned with the four E’s of Excellence. So, we look at an individual’s education, work experience, work ethic and examination.
