Consistent with our Critical Incident Video Release Procedure, SAPD will release video from the Officer Involved Shooting that occurred on November 7, 2024, at the intersection of Padre Drive and Napier Avenue. Below is a brief synopsis of the critical incident:
An SAPD officer observed a suspect commit a traffic violation at the intersection of S. Presa and S.E. Military. The officer recognized the suspect vehicle as one that fled from officers earlier during the day. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, the suspect accelerated. The officer followed him and eventually the suspect abruptly stopped at the intersection of Padre Dr and Napier Ave. The officer stepped out his patrol vehicle at which time the suspect pointed a firearm at the officer. The officer discharged his firearm, striking the suspect. EMS transported the suspect to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening wound. The suspect was charged with Aggravated Assault – Peace Officer and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
As with all officer involved shootings, the District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the incident.
