This is a perfect victory on Unfair using the Mist Eaters and all AE content enabled. Some specifics:
- 40k score
- All objectives complete
- No pilot or mech deaths
- No grid damage
- Mist Eaters squad
- All AE content enabled
- 2hr 16min run time
A 40k with the Mist Eaters is probably easier than it sounds. There's definitely a lot of RNG involved, especially as Mist Eaters are a low-damage squad out of the gate, and you'll probably reroll the first island 20 times before you pull it off - but I feel all they need is just a little bit of an edge to make the magic happen. In this case, the game just showered me with tons of weapon options on the first island alone, and scoring both Gemini Missiles and Ice Beam meant the scales were tipped in favor of skill over luck. This is demonstrated by the fact this is an Unfair 40k run at only 2 hours, and Island 4 was basically a walk in the park due to the insane damage output.
I feel pilot choice is important early on for Mist Eaters, because while they have 2 very powerful mechs, they just don't have the damage output to deal with Unfair at first - you either need to get lucky on your first few maps and a good weapon selection, or start with a really OP pilot.
I did take a pylon hit in the hive fight, same as my previous 40k, but again, as that neither affects score nor the outcome by that point, I didn't think too much of it. I didn't see a solution for that particular turn either, though having 1 more move on Kai probably would have done it. The weapon glut here meant I actually traded out the Reverse Thrusters, which is the weakest weapon in the Mist Eaters arsenal. Control Mech and Smog Mech are both top tier, but the fact Smog Mech is so core hungry is what pushed me toward Kai as the starting pilot, just for that precious damage boost.
