We caught an NS SD70ACU and decided to pace it! These ACU's are actually becoming more rare, as NS keeps selling them to Progressive Rail. This ACU was originally bought from UP when it was an SD9043MAC, which served under NS as an SD9043MAC until it was later rebuilt in the Juniata shops in Pennsylvania and reclassified as an SD70ACU. Later in 2018, CP has begun rebuilding their SD9043MAC into SD70ACU's but instead of being homemade rebuilds, they were sent to Progressive Rail.
This catch was awesome because like I said earlier, these are becoming extinct every week due to the fact of large numbers of ACU's being put up for sale. At the same time, we paced it for about 20 miles down to Raymond, Illinois, which is near a Hidden Gem location, Litchfield! At the end, there is a surprise on NS train 60P, with a BNSF SD70ACe leading and a CP ES44AC trailing, the DPU was quite a surprise! Hopefully you guys enjoyed this one! I'll try and post more videos soon!
