Welcome back to our blog. For the regulars, you probably know who I am. If you don’t and this is your first time, thanks for coming. My name is Aaron. We often get asked by our owners where we advertise our vacant rental properties. So in this blog I will go over the best places to advertise and NOT advertise rental properties.
Word of Mouth Referrals
First and foremost, we get a lot of word-of-mouth referrals. Our residents really love us, so when they need a new home, they’ll try and move into another unit we manage. We also get a lot of friend and family referrals from current residents! It pays to treat your residents well!
Yard Signs
Yard signs: an oldie, but a goodie. Just like “For Sale” signs, “For Rent” signs draw attention and send many prospects our way. It’s best to include both a phone number and website on the sign.
Internet Sites
Online is the primary place where we advertise rental properties. We post all of our rental properties online. Below is a list with links to all the sites, but we also have a very cool graphic that you can see at the end of this post.

How do we hit all these sites? For starters, we post to Rently.com. Rently syndicates our listing to all of these sites. What that means is basically they are partnered with all these other websites and when we put our listing on Rently.com, they push it out and hit all of the above mentioned websites.
Where NOT to Advertise: Craigslist
Because of all the scams that occur, we need to include a place NOT to advertise your rental property. Craigslist of notorious for scams. Despite not posting Craigslist, we still have criminals steal our listings and post on it. Whether you are a renter or an investor listing your unit, don’t use craigslist. We will have a new blog out shortly discussing how these scams work and how to protect yourself and your prospects.
