The United States and Japan held Cabinet-level economic talks in Washington on Monday.
At the discussions, both sides emphasized the need for cooperation in dealing with North Korea's provocations.
They also discussed rebalancing the trade relationship between the two countries.
Japan agreed to streamline testing for U.S. auto exports and to lift restrictions on potatoes from Idaho, while the U.S. agreed to do the same for Japanese persimmons.
