Technically this was the first video I made where I tried to experiment with text transition effects but I keep tweaking it because I'm never quite happy with it... it was difficult due to the double meanings that just don't work in English.
First, don't assume the single word you see on the screen is the same one being repeated in German - I had to work with the rhythm.
The most difficult for me to figure out what to do with-
Takt = beat. Taktgefühl = sense of tact. Very rarely does it mean sense of rhythm or timing in a song. I think the band was going for a double meaning - throwing the lyrical I off the beat, and making him lose his sense of tactfulness.
The other one - the phrase bringt mich um means to kill in the figurative sense usually - like 'you're killing me' or 'is going to kill me'. So, Dein Rhythmus bringt mich um = your rhythm is going to kill me/is killing me. I used 'slays me' for syllables, I think it works, similar enough - but bringt mich um den Schlaf = keeps me awake. So you hear one meaning "your rhythm is going to kill me" shifting into "your rhythm keeps me awake". My compromise - Your rhythm slays me, keeps -me – up- all night. I hope it works...
