19925 Hoover remained vacant for nearly 10 years and was a point of consistent concern for residents who were tired of the illegal dumping and safety risks this abandoned industrial building posed to the neighborhood. Thankfully, after years of voiced concerns, 19925 Hoover is demolished – making way for potential new development in the area.
The Hoover demolition was funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and is just one of more than 300 blighted commercial buildings that will be taken down.
"We're excited," said LaJuan Counts, executive dir. of Detroit's Construction and Demolition Department. "We believe that Hoover is going to be the kick-off to a lot more commercial demos that are coming down the pipeline, and so we're expecting to be really busy from now through the end of the year." #DetroitDemo #ARPA #3DStrong
