Cleaning Steps
1. Initial Inspection
Prior to doing any work on your area rug, our experts conduct a careful inspection to determine what is best for its longevity. We look for damage inflicted by pets, moths, and wall-to-wall carpet cleaning equipment. Next, our professionals test your rug for colorfastness and adjust our wash process to protect your area rug.

2.Dusting
Essential in preserving the value of your rug, dusting removes all embedded dirt prior to washing. If this step is omitted, the dirt becomes mud during the wash, mutes the colors, and continues to abrade and destroy the fibers.

3.Gentle Washing with Water and Shampoo
Your rug is washed on both sides using only the mildest soaps made from natural ingredients. Thorough rinsing is essential to regain the richness of the colors and to prevent new dirt from accumulating prematurely. No rug maintained by Megerian is ever washed by automated machine.

4.Grooming and Drying
We groom every rug by setting the pile in the proper direction and gently combing the rug fringe. A slow drying in ambient air is used to preserve the natural-colored dyes and to preclude shrinkage.

5.Replenishing of Lanolin
Annual replacing of Lanolin, the wool?s natural oil, restores the luster and suppleness of the fiber, thus increasing its longevity. This process has the additional benefit of bringing out the beautiful colors and motifs.

6.Mothproofing
Mothproofing prevents one of the most common threats to your rug. Even before you are aware of their existence, moth larvae can silently destroy the wool fibers of your rug and cause extensive damage.

7. Applying a Stain Inhibitor
Using an application derived from nature, the wool fibers are made to resist penetration of discoloring liquids, such as wine and coffee.

8. Deodorizing and Sanitizing
A special enzyme is used to remove pet odors and harmful bacteria.

9. Rug Softening
When the cotton foundation is softened, it is less susceptible to dry rot, a common and dangerous condition caused by fungi.

10. Repairs by Hand
For handmade area rugs, our skilled professional will apply his artistry to edges, holes, tears, and fringe. This meticulous expert work restores a rug to its original beauty.
