For years, efforts to clean up contaminated communities in Nigeria’s oil-rich Niger Delta have been bogged down in dispute and bureaucracy.
In 2011, the United Nations Environment Programme proposed the creation of a $1bn fund to repair the damage done by decades of oil spills in the Ogoniland area.
But activists say they are not impressed with the pace of work.
