The special feature of the 24-mega watt capacity hydroelectric project that is getting ready at Chinnar, is that it can generate power all round the year without causing any environmental problems. The construction works of the 3.2 kilometres long tunnel, which is part of the hydroelectric project, has been completed by the KSEB about 2 months ahead of schedule. Overcoming the COVID crisis, the tunnel works have been completed in 628 days.
The building cost of the power project is estimated at Rs 269.87 crores. Once commissioned, the project is expected to generate up to 76.45 million units of electricity in a year, as per KSEB’s evaluation Data
