In Libya, over 42,000 people have been displaced by fighting around the capital, Tripoli.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet called for an immediate ceasefire, the creation of a humanitarian corridor for aid to civilians and political talks for the sake of all those affected.

A UN spokesperson said, “the hostilities in Tripoli are continuing to impact health facilities and health personnel.”
Speaking to reporters today (01 May), UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said, “There have been at least four fatalities among health workers since the beginning of this current conflict and 11 ambulances have to date been damaged or destroyed as a result of the hostilities."
Dujarric continued, “The armed clashes, random shelling and explosives placed on roads are hampering the ability of humanitarian workers to evacuate civilians and to deliver needed aid, as well as the ability of the civilians to move freely to safer areas or to be able to access vital goods and services.”
The UN Spokesperson reiterated, “we are also continuing to remind all parties of their obligations under international humanitarian law to take constant care to spare civilians and civilian infrastructure, including medical personnel, and medical health facilities.”
Dujarric added, “since the beginning of the conflict, 102 civilian casualties have been verified, including 23 fatalities and over 45,000 people have now fled their homes due to the clashes. And that is according to the UN migration agency.”
