The words to Eli, Eli (A Walk to Caesarea) were composed by the Holocaust era heroine and martyr, Hannah Senesh (1921-1944), when she lived in Palestine before the founding of the State of Israel in 1948. The melody was composed by Israeli composer David Zahavi (1910 - 1977)
