How to make sugar syrup for bees?
In the beekeeping world beekeeper sometime need to supplement food for the bees. Making their food correctly is very important. To much moisture in the syrup at the wrong time of year can be deadly to the colony.
A one-to-one mixture of sugar and water — measured either by weight or by volume — provides the energy your bees need to stimulate brood rearing and start drawing out foundation. For each gallon of sugar syrup, measure out 10 2/3 cups sugar and 10 2/3 cups of water.
How do you give sugar syrup to bees?
Place sugar syrup or dry sugar inside the hives towards evening — as this minimises the risk of bees robbing hives that have been fed.
The cooled syrup can be placed in the hives using one of 4 methods.
