Government is reaffirming its commitment to reducing the island’s carbon footprint.
During the closing of a workshop at the Hilton Barbados, Needham’s Point, St Michael, for an update of Barbados’ Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Minister of Environment and National Beautification Adrian Forde said climate change had a profound global impact and it was imperative that climate issues be treated with a sense of urgency.
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) representative in Barbados Viviana Alva Hart said that since the IDB was exploring creative and innovative ways to provide financing to its 26 member states in Latin America and the Caribbean to mitigate the effects of climate change, while reaping the many benefits of a greener future.
