EECP is not contraindicated in patients with peripharal artery disease.most of the patients who are diabetic are prone to have peripherial vascular disease in the lower limb.since you are putting cuffs in the lower limb it may compromise certain blood flow towards to the heart because of the block. if a patient has severe peripheral vascular disease where severe block in the major vessel more than 80% then we may not be able to increase blood flow beyond obstruction. in that condition EECP benefit is sub optimal. in pheriphal vascular disease they may require more sessions to achive clinical benefit.
