Jim White from Mullinahone, Co. Tipperary is a dairy farmer who has been very focused on grazing management and grass measuring to get as much milk as possible in the tank from grazed grass. In this video Jim highlights the current situation on the farm, what he wants his grass wedge to look like coming into April, what management changes he makes coming into April, his view on having too much grass and his fertiliser plan this spring.
With the price of inputs in 2022 it is more important than ever to utilise as much grass as possible. It is still nearly half the cost of any other feed available and provides more nutrients. Contact your local Teagasc advisor if you would like to improve your grazing skills!
