Muringayila Varavu
Muringayila (Drumstick leaves) Varavu (Stir fry) is a traditional Kerala side dish which goes well with hot rice and curry. In some places ‘Varavu’ is also called as Thoran/Upperi. Drumstick leaves are one of the most powerful health enhancing leaves due to its unique nutritional properties. This recipe is so easy to make ,gets ready in few minutes yet tastes yummy!

INGREDIENTS
1. Drumstick Leaves - 2 Cup
2. Pearl onions - 7 No.
3. Grated Coconut - 1/4 Cup
4. Green Chilli - 2 No.
5. Turmeric powder - a pinch
6. Curry Leaves - 1 spring
7. Cooking oil - 1 tbsp
(Cooking oil)
8. Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
9. Salt to taste
Note:
1. Avoid Drumstick leaves during Monsoon season as it becomes toxic during this time & looses its nutrients.
2. Drumstick leaves are cleaned thoroughly & placed on a strainer to remove excess water. Leaves won’t stick together while if this step is done.
3. Cook only for 10 - 15 minutes or until done. Some leaves may cook faster and some may need little extra time.
4. Make sure not to change its green colour.
5. Too much cooking time looses its colour & nutrients
