Narcissus Ringing Bells is a daffodil in the group 5 (Triandrus daffodils), very elegant but unfortunately almost scentless in my opinion. This variety was raised by Grant Mitsch and Richard and Elise Havens, Oregon, USA and registered in 1984 by Grant Mitsch Novelty Daffodil.
The seed parent is Narcissus Quick Step and the pollen parent is Narcissus triandrus ssp. triandrus var. triandrus. The flowers are about 6 cm across, white both on the tepals and on the corona; the flower shape is very elegant, really beautiful, but unfortunately the flowers are nodding very much downwards and this, combined with the fact that this daffodil is quite short (about 35-40 cm tall), makes really difficult appreciating their beauty from the point of view of a person walking in a garden. Even if this daffodil is reported as scented, I find the fragrance almost undetectable, I really need to stick my nose into the cup to smell its floral fragrance, that is very pleasant but so light that I really need to make an effort to detect it. I find that other triandrus varieties, such as Thalia (see my review on Narcissus Thalia on this link [ Ссылка ] ) and Angel's Whisper (see mhy review on Narcissus Angel's Whisper on this link [ Ссылка ] ), have a similar scent to Ringing Bells but the fragrance intensity is definitely stronger, therefore Ringing Bells is surely not at the top of my list as recommended Triandrus daffodils for gardens or for fragrance.
As usual for daffodils, the bulbs need to be planted in autumn in well drained soil, and the plant thrives in full sun or at least partial shade. In summer the foliage dies down and bulbs can either be lifted and divided, or left in place keeping them as dry as possible.
