In late 2018, Amazon Web Services announced the launch of a 12-satellite facilities network, located around the globe, known as AWS Ground Station.
The launch was a seismic event in the space industry as it would enable more companies to avail of satellite services and provide better information to their customers.
Leading this groundbreaking initiative was Teresa Carlson, Vice President of the Worldwide Public Sector at Amazon Web Services.
Throughout her career, Carlson had primarily focused on supporting the implementation of IT platforms and systems in public sector organizations.
Since starting AWS’s public sector business in 2010, Carlson has driven the business’ growth, which today accounts for over 6,500 government, over 11,000 education, and over 29,000 nonprofit customers, and a vast partner ecosystem across all geographies.
For her visionary leadership which has been instrumental in redefining the overall business value chain of the satellite imaging industry, Geospatial Media is pleased to present the Geospatial Business Leader of the Year award to Ms. Teresa Carlson.
