This swarm was a particular delight - the colony first sent out the swarm at 10.30 in the morning ... the bees settled in a silver birch at a height of seven metres! I told them that this was going to be tricky for me, as the branches were very thin and I still don't have a swarm catcher on a pole etc. They obliged and went back into the hive .... to emerge three hours later! This time they assembled in a superbly convenient position. It took a while to place the top bars .... but I got to know them a bit in the process. They are LOVELY.
