Whilst there are no active tropical cyclones today, several promising areas of interest are situated across the Atlantic and Western Pacific regions, with another one in the Southern Indian Ocean.
In the Atlantic, at least two areas of interest are expected to persist for the next few days, with tropical storm development possible by next week. These storms are expected to remain out to sea.
In the Caribbean, an area of interest is currently located near Haiti, and longer range models are suggesting significant development in the Gulf of Mexico.
In the Western Pacific, an area of interest to the east of the Ogasawara Islands is looking much better on satellite imagery this morning, and could develop sooner than expected if current trends continue. This system is expected to remain weak as it swings around the Ogasawara islands and heads towards Kyushu over the next week.
In its wake, an area of interest could develop in the Philippine Sea and long range models suggest that a strong typhoon is possible, but this is still highly uncertain.
