[voice over] When it comes to hauling cargo, your Ram truck can help you step up, and get the job done… with available features like the deployable bed step. It helps you get in and out of the pickup bed easier, and stays of your way when not in use.
The pickup box lights can be operated with the push of a button or switch inside the cabin by the headlight controls… or, when your truck is stationary, can be turned on or off with a switch in the pickup bed.
The Bed Rail Tie-Down System uses two adjustable cleats on each side of the bed to help you secure your cargo. Locate each cleat, then tighten it into one of the side rail positions and you’ve got a secure tie-down loop. To move the cleat along the rail, turn the nut several times counter-clockwise, pull outward and slide the cleat to the desired side rail position. Then, set the cleat and tighten it down. You’ll also find tie down hooks at each corner of the bed near the floor.
An available cargo divider helps to keep cargo from moving around the truck bed. To use it, first make sure the center handle is unlocked using the vehicle key, and rotate the center handle vertically to release the divider side gates. With the side gates open, position the divider so the outboard ends align with the intended slots in the sides of the bed. Rotate the side gates closed so the outboard ends are secured into the intended slots of the bed. Rotate the center handle horizontally to secure the side gates in the closed position, then lock the center handle to secure the panel in place.
When not in use, the divider can be stored at the front of the bed. Just release the divider from its current position, and move it forward to the front panel. Rotate the side gates closed with the outboard ends in the front of the tie down loops. Return the center handle to the horizontal position to secure the side gates and re-lock the center handle to discourage theft.
On 1500 Classic models, the Extender Position lets you extend the bed out onto the tailgate. This will give you 15 in or 38 cm more cargo space when needed. Find the locating pin and rotating handle on both sides of the truck bed near the tailgate.
Lower the tailgate and turn the center handle vertical to release the side gates. Slot each side of the gate onto the pin and handle. Turn the handle to lock it into place.
