The COVID-19 crisis has dramatically changed care protocols, especially at the community level, and makes screening for malnourished children more difficult. However, it is essential to prevent the late detection of malnourished children, who could be taken care of before falling into this nutritional emergency.
In this context, with the support of UNICEF, Nutriset will add MUAC bracelets in all of its Plumpy'Nut® boxes produced in December 2020.
The bracelets, redesigned by UNICEF, are made in France and produced with respect for the environment. On the back, they display pictograms developed to help train mothers in their use. Each box of Plumpy'Nut® contains 10 MUAC bracelets and a product sheet containing new recommendations from WHO and UNICEF.
We are pleased to inform you that this action will be offered to all customers on orders produced this month (up to 120,000 boxes) for a total of 1.2 million MUAC bracelets distributed, at no additional cost thanks to the support from UNICEF.
This initiative aims to extend the early detection of cases of acute malnutrition, and to equip mothers and care givers who are on the front line for screening. We hope it will be useful for your programs.
