In today's video, we're going to look at a few of the ways you can take weight data from your scale and send it to your computer.
The basic way that you receive weight data from your scale is to connect a serial cable from your scale weight indicator to your computer. You will probably need to add an RS232 to USB adapter since most computers these days do not have a serial port.
Now usually the information coming across is going to need to be run through some type of web program in order to be placed into a spreadsheet on your computer.
You can also go one step further and actually utilize a scale management software like WinVRS from Cardinal Scale.
Another popular example of sending scale weights to the computer is the Mettler Toledo BC60 shipping scale. It can easily send weight data to popular shipping software like UPS WorldShip.
And finally, there's one more method out there that a lot of people don't think about. And it involves no cables, no ethernet, and no connecting to a company's network. Cardinal has an optional board that we can add to the 205 weight indicator and this will allow you to place a USB thumb drive in the back of the indicator and it will record weight data. You can record virtually an unlimited number of weight It's up to you when you're done. Then, take the USB thumb drive out and plug it into your computer using the PC Companion software from Cardinal Scale.
