Annecy was the home to the Counts of Geneva in the 13th century & the counts of Savoy in the 14th century. It hosts the Venetian festival or carnival in Early March, situated on Lake Annecy, was once a town for the Counts and Countess of Geneva, The Rich of the super rich. During the carnival, people take pride and dress up as the Venetian super rich behind the mask. For long this place has been called the Alpine Venetia, The Venice of the Alps.
